I am a former professor of industrial design and management. After 25 years in university teaching, I needed the change. I'm 62, and I hope to do this for the next 10 - 15 years, leaving behind value for my kids. It's better than writing a stuffy research paper.

My business, Inspecting Pro LLC, has a different concept than most home inspection businesses. In fact, my background is a bit different from most inspectors. I am a former professor in industrial engineering and design, along with organizational design, international business, and human psychology and behavior. I taught in both Big 12 and Big Ten universities, was a Fulbright Scholar (I wrote Malaysian national laws on entrepreneurial franchising), and founded an international aid organization called "Business Without Borders". I've taught entrepreneurship and new venture capital 25 times. I also helped engineer the New Belt and Silk Road project across Asia, Europe, and Africa. Woof.

Here's the pattern: entrepreneurship, franchising, venture capital, industrial design, and human psychology. These days, these are ALL about network development, and that's what I do best. These are all about process management, and they are all about getting more done with less. More IS less!

InspectingPro and the canine organization RadonDog are network organizations. They operate from a very small core and assign important tasks to organizations that can PROVE their dependability and service reliability. I start with my own example: I have insurance - we all do. I am licensed - we all are. I have something more - a $25,000 bond called my Honor Guarantee against illegal behavior at work. No theft, no malicious propert damage, no monetary or service fraud. If those things can be proven, my bond makes you whole. All my partner organizations are held to the same standard. We work hard. We're honest. We're thoroughly on the client's side. We do good, have fun, and make money.

Managing the network organization is a bit like being a general construction contractor. This is the guy who coordinates all the work of others so it it done, on time, and correctly.

I lead by example. I'm at all jobs, supervising and getting my hands dirty, too. I'm coordinating subs. I'm certified and capable on ALL tasks the home inspector performs. For InspectingPro and RadonDog that means performing:

• General home inspection. This work covers more than 250 datapoints, provides beautiful work products, maps your new home with the true dimensions of each and every space, and provides a maintenance manual for keeping your home great.

• Radon Detection, if you want it. Radon is the second highest CAUSE of lung cancer in the US, just below smoking. 22,000 people per year die from Radon related lung cancer. The average Radon level in this area around St. Louis is 4.7 pc/l. The EPA guideline is for homes to have a mediation system in place for homes over 4.0 pc/l. Pc/l us "picocuries of radiation per liter of air" in a space. A picocurie is 1 trillionth of the radiation that comes from 1 gram of Radium.

• Sewer Scoping. This is a camera probe into the sewer system from your home to the local sewer system. It checks to make sure the pipes coming from your house are not clogged, broken, or taken over by tree roots.

• Fire preparedness. This is an examination of fire extinguishers, smoke and CO detectors, egress systems, and results in your personal family's plan for getting out of a house in an emergency.

• Wood Destroying Insects, like termites, come from the ground and are attracted to your house's wood structure because there is food, water, and a way in.

• Moisture and Mold. I take mold samples if there is a suspicion of mold that comes from moisture.

• Kitchen Inspection. This is more than looking at the stove and saying "it appears to work". I'm a chef. A good one. If you have a gourmet and designer kitchen, I'll be jealous. More, however, isn't better if you can't get full capability. I have my own kitchen. it's basic, efficient, and extraordinarily functional at a high level with low space. I can see your kitchen and tell you what might make it more efficient. I can suggest innovations that cost only a few pennies that can do what you want, without spending $25,000 on that new Viking appliance maste r showroom.

• Finally, just in case you want to know... I can scan your home for drugs residue. You never know, but Meth cooking and Fentanyl fabrication activities cross socioeconomic lines.
